Owa Announces Curfew In Ilesa Over Traditional Rite To Ward Off Killings In Ijesaland

 

The Palace of the Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, Owa Adesuyi Haastrup, has announced an 11-hour curfew in Ilesa.

The curfew, which will take place between Thursday and Friday, according to the palace, is part of traditional rites aimed at warding off the spirit of sudden deaths and killings in Ijesaland.

The public announcement stated that the curfew will run from 7 pm on Thursday, August 6, 2026 to 6 am on Friday, August 7, 2026.

Residents have been urged to strictly adhere to the stay-at-home directive during the period for the sake of peace in Ijesaland.

“A curfew has been imposed in Ilesa from 7 pm on Thursday, August 6, 2026, to 6 am on August 7, 2026, for a traditional rite to ward off the spirit of sudden deaths and killings in Ijesaland

“Members of the public are requested to strictly adhere to the stay-at-home directives for the sake of peace in Ijesaland,” the announcement reads.
